Our Story

IMPORTANT NOTICE
The SEAN REILLY TBI FUND HAS CEASED ALL FUNDRAISING AND BEEN DISSOLVED.

The Sean Reilly TBI Fund was created in 2009, shortly after Sean passed away (January 2009) following complications from his traumatic brain injury suffered in March 2004. The Fund was created to honor Sean's memory and to serve the many unmet needs of the traumatic brain injury community here in New Jersey. By all accounts Sean's Fund has exceeded all expectations as a small public charity, raised over $1 million and helped so, so many victims and their families with direct quality of life support.

Sean's Fund was created, and has always operated as a "pure charity." We've never had administrative costs of any kind. All of our organizational, legal, accounting, tax and regulatory work has been graciously donated by Drinker Biddle, Eisner Amper and PwC. The day to day work of the Fund and all of the activity around our many successful fundraising events: golf outings, galas, parties, etc. has all been volunteered by an amazing group of friends and family members. Special thanks here to my wife Susan, Sara McMahon,Maureen Tully and Laura Unkles, ably assisted by Karen Harrison, Joan Mehner and so many others.
However, we have continued to rely on this same small group of professionals and friends to sustain this work year after year. We have asked for and they have contributed more than enough.

Thus, we have CEASED ALL FUNDRAISING ACTIVITES AND TERMINATED/DISSOLVED THE 501 (c)(3) CHARITY.

The Giving Mission of Sean's fund will continue for several years as all of the Fund's existing assets have been transferred to a conservative, low cost Donor Advised Fund, called the SEAN REILLY DAF. The DAF is an investment and giving vehicle, but will not engage in any fundraising.

Susan and I are forever grateful for your generosity to Sean's Fund over these many years.

We are grateful to the Board of Sean's Fund, without whom none of this would ever have happened: Todd Schermerhorn, Bill Tully, Kevin McMahon, Brendan Reilly, Roger Mehner, John Stoddard, Mark Baker & Elizabeth Mormak.

On behalf of all of us, please accept our best wishes for a Very Merry Christmas, A Happy Hannukah and a Wonderful 2020.

Bill Reilly
